I could not be happier with our first 5 weeks at Roses in Concrete. Our son's passion for creating art, Spanish skills, and making friends has grown more than we could have imagined. I appreciate the morning gathering and the sense of community. I did not get into any decent public schools in Oakland and this was our back up plan. At this point, if my #1 choice had an opening I would deny it. I was in your shoes last fall = reading reviews, looking at the rating of each school, and wondering where I would be sending my child. We love the Kindergarten teachers and the involvement of everyone. As I talk with my other mom friends who got into Montclair Elementary, Seqoia and other higher scoring public schools, I feel lucky that we are where we are.

There have been a lot of negative things being said about this school but from my experience the school is great. They have areas they need to improve in and they are working on it. But for the 1 negative thing I can think of there are 10 positive things I can say about the school. Bottom line is my kid is very happy at the school and is thriving. Also, I found out that the schools testing results are not totally accurate as about 50% of the students opt out of taking the testing. So when they score low it is not actually based on the entire school. I would visit the school and ask a lot of questions before writing it off as an option for your kid.

Kindergarten at Roses has been outstanding. The teachers are communicative, caring and inspiring and the ethos of respect, love and protect permeates the school culture in a tangible way. I just got back from a parent meeting and was impressed by the principals’ thoughtful responses and implementation of changes to improve school culture and teacher support. I’m looking forward to seeing the continued positive evolution of the school.

My Son started this school 21/2 years ago. The Arts program is phenomenal! My experience there has been good and most recently horrible. It's disappointing that the idea of this school is grander then it's true exsitences. By the way many of these reviews someone got hired to write up for the school.
