Chaparral Elementary School

Excellent community! Once a Hawk, always a Hawk!

We were very disappointed in Chaparral. We want our kids to learn at school but it seems that the school is mostly interested in fundraisers and distractions (like Friday morning pep rallies) and shows little interest in academics outside of testing. With the instructional time left after the distractions, they seem to be doing lots of worksheets, and it seems to be the parent's responsibility to notice the errors on the marked sheets and teach the kids how to improve, not the teachers. The administration talks about fundraisers and character, but not academics, and is not interested in parent concerns about academics. They want to yell at you for double parking, but take no responsibility for scheduling events parents need to come to all at the same time so there is no place to park. I've been in schools where the leadership models "We protect instructional time, and want your kids to improve academically." We don't see it here and our kids seem to be bored.

Very disappointing. We are moving both kids out.

Everyone is always so encouraging and they are always happy to help with anything! They are all real patient and love us!
