Overall i do not agree with how i see children running around veing unsupervised and getting away with really bad things. There are various huts and hideout type houses that are on campus where children can go into and do things to other kids. If you are a parent that cares about the supervision, safety and well being of your child, do not come here. Horrible things were done to my kids here by other kids. The crafts they do i really loved but I dont feel my kids are safe here. I since removed them all. Im so glad i did once i found out things they were telling me.

My daughter has blossomed here. She has always been an avid reader and writer, however her previous attendance at a college prep school damaged her. She was missing out on being a kid and being forced into adult behavior too early. We found AM Winn when we relocated to the area. The teachers and staff really do care about the children, inside and out. There is a collaborative community of staff and parents. The children here are so well mannered and open. And the way the curriculum is taught gives each child an opportunity to grasp it in their own way where they WANT to learn rather than a teacher drilling it in for a test. While this is a different approach to learning/teaching I remind you that even as adults we learn and take in information differently (auditory, visual, kinesthetic) so why would we expect our children to learn only one way in school? This approach meets the child where they are and in a way that appeals to them and their style. I’m saddened by the low rating the school has recieved. In my experience here over the last 2 years it’s very culturally diverse, the staff communicate well and promptly with parents on any academic or behavior/bully issues, and my daughter is up to speed on grade level academics in comparison with peers in traditional public schools, and is actually learning more valuable life skills. I feel like the Waldorf education at AM Winn is back to the basics - teaching children useful skills and knowledge to make them effective members of society that can think through things for themselves and problem solve, rather than the typical approach in schools that aims to teach kids to test well for funding purposes. AM Winn has been a blessing for us. I think some of these old reviews were around the time of some of the transitions that were taking place. I think the kinks have been worked out because this is such a positive environment. I had no idea what the Waldorf approach was a few years ago but I’m sold on it and the fact that we have access to it at a free public school is amazing.

My son is attending A.M. Winn and love it! He is learning so much and doesn't even realize it because of the Waldorf approach. The staff is very caring and nurturing towards the children and it is a very positive environment. All staff is very approachable and really care about the school and the children who attend it. I highly recommend this school.

My grandson is in kindergarten and my granddaughter is in the 2nd grade. Grades k-2 all they do is finger knit and play all day! My granddaughter hasn't had math homework all year and the homework she has consist of her reading a book drawing her favorite part in the book and writing a sentence! Now if that's the kind of homework you send at least give the kids books that the teacher has read! My granddaughter wasn't reading just drawing a picture and faking a sentence! And at 8 years old her spelling is terrible! The wardoff program sucks because their not nurturing or supporting my grandbabies natural intelligence! I wouldn't recommend this school because at 8 years old my granddaughter can't read a whole book when at 8 her mom could!
