Portola Elementary School

Our family loves Portola. We have made life-long friends here and now our five year old is starting her journey here. I wish it went from K to 8th grade instead of just 5th.

Last year, my last child graduated from Portola. I wanted to publicly thank the principal and her teacher for pulling my daughter out of one class to receive extra reading tutoring in the fourth grade. My daughter was not embarrassed because the other kids were jealous. My daughter has joined the book club at Parkside and is thriving. I also wanted to thank the principal for one of my last heartwarming memories at Portola: At one of the last PTA meetings I attended, he asked for and received money to tutor 5th grade graduating boys in math since they stayed after school to play basketball. He said he wanted to send the boys off to their next school with their "best foot forward." I loved and miss Portola!

Portola is a wonderful school for the students, as well as the parents and community. We have had the best experience over the years. If there is anything that could improve, it would be the reduction of split classes and reduced class sizes. This is a district-wide issue and the Portola PTA and school administration continue to do their best to alleviate the situation.

My daughter went to a Christian school for 3 yrs. and started Portola when she was 1st grade. She is now on her 4th and I am saddened by the fact that next year will be her last year here. She really enjoyed being at Portola. All her classmates are very nice and I am proud to say that Mr. Rohrbach, Ms. Chapman and all the teachers are great and wonderful. We're grateful that Portola is our school district. You're the best!
