Ortega (Jose) Elementary School

We've had a wonderful experience with this school - highly recommend.

We've had a great Kinder / Mandarin Immersion experience. Ms Chang and Ms Li are great individually and great together. It's been 7+ months and our child still doesnt know Ms Chang can speak English! Ha!

I remember touring the school and thinking-this seems like a wonderful school. The parents seem really involved with the PTA raising 200k+ yearly, there is a diverse population of economic and ethnic backgrounds for the kids, there are strong science, art, dance, computer programs and fresh fruit daily from the foodbank. It was this hidden gem that no one seemed to really know about except for those who were really interested in mandarin immersion. My daughter is in the general education program and often times in dual pathway schools, the general education pathway suffers. This is not true for JOES. There is so much emphasis on making sure that the teachers work together and that the students all receive the same quality education. It was even better than I expected it was going to be!

We’ve been 4 years in this school and we are very happy and have excellent experience with school, teachers and community. Teachers and staff very friendly and welcome.
