We have been sending our kids to highlands for the past 3 years. The kids love it here and the teachers and compassionate and effective. Loving it!

Highlands is a wonderfully diverse school. I love that my kids learn about all kinds of cultures and ethnic groups by being exposed to different people. I am sorry that some parents who have posted here feel diversity is a weakness and fear those “other” kids from across town. I say, go ahead and pay $30K per year if you want to send your kids to a white bubble school and make yourself feel like you are getting a better education for your kids. But the world is not a bubble and education is more than just academics. We live and work in more global, diverse environments than ever before. I want my kids to embrace the strength in diversity. Highlands is a strong school because of the diversity. The people who believe in equal education for everyone make this a great school.

Highland has exceeded our expectations - great school, great staff, strong leadership.

I pulled our DS out after kindergarten. Put him in private school instead. Even though it cost me a lot of money - it was worth it. Why? Too many kids get bussed in from other parts of San Mateo. Why am I even living in this neighborhood - paying this huge property tax? I am sorry, the two groups don't mix - socially, financially, academically.
