Overall it is a decent , clean school that teaches well. Teens are always the same so it may not be sometimes the most ideal.
I graduated from this high school 15 years ago. I still reminisce the days when I enjoyed the open-air style campus. I excelled at school, athletics, and was very involved in campus activities. Granted, the school's probably nothing like what it was back then (for better or worse, I don't know), but it may provide some context as to what a graduate may look like in the future. Upon graduation, I went to a top 10 college for my undegraduate and graduate studies. I got hired by a top 100 ranking Forunte 500 company afterwards. I have a family now and wish I can move them back to this area so they could enjoy the kind of high school life that I had.
I had the best teachers and learned so much. I felt really prepared for college and did very well once I got there. I was not very involved in clubs or sports, but there is literally a club for every interest and if you want to start a new club-easy as pie. I found the greatest friends in high school that I still keep in touch with all these years later. My teachers were awesome. They all inspired me (without them even knowing it) to pursue teaching as a career. Mr. Bolde is actually a really great principal who cares about the school. Saugus was a safe place. I was not popular, I was shy, but I never encountered bullying, nor did my friends. I know it existed, but it's at every school and I've seen it be definitely more prevalent in other schools. If you are a motivated student, you will do well at Saugus and maybe be lucky enough to figure out your life goals and passions along the way like I did. If you have the choice, choose Saugus!!
If you don't have to don't send your kids to this school. They politics at this school are ridiculous. The promote teachers that shouldn't even be teaching they get rid of teachers that are great and relate to the students. Two of my children went here one I had to have moved to Bowman due to bullying. The other was kicked out and was able to return as a senior but was put through hell. The Principal, Vice Principal, Deputy and several teachers don't play fair nor do they practice what they preach. My last child will not be attending this school.
