My daughter has enjoyed her first year so far. The counselors worked with her to schedule classes to allow for both AP classes and arts electives she wanted. Teachers appear to communicate clear expectations about coursework. Campus always seems full of friendly students and doesn't feel like there are segregated groups or cliques. One of the most attractive features of the school from our first visit was the tremendous diversity among students. It has been a good fit for my academic/artistic kid!
this school is nothing but the worst school in history honestly i dont see any good thing about this school or how you people think this school has a positive side to it, ive been going here for 3 years now and i havent learned anything at all the teachers wont even explain they carelessly just explain things and then move on to something else really quickly it really bothers me and its really ghetto and dirty. plus the track on the football field is plain dirt which is not supposed to be like that. im willing to change my school this year...
I graduated Verdugo back in 08' and I have to say I enjoyed all 4 years I spent here! I always dislike hearing the "ghetto" comments on this school because I never understood it. I grew up in Sunland/ Tujunga and obviously many of the people making these comments are too judgmental and maybe never have visited the nearby towns of LVT and Pacoima (no hate on them because I have friends living there). But anyway I always say high school is what you make of it. I chose to join sports teams and clubs and just be active. I've had teachers there that made such an impact on me and my view on life. I'll forever be grateful to Mr. Reinhart, Ms. Franco, and Ms. Manaka. Many of the teachers hear truly care for their students! And what's best about Verdugo..the schedule gives us 3 periods and were out by 1:30. Yes Verdugo may not have the big huge gym and football field that other schools may have, but that's okay. I love Verdugo! Just study hard and anyone can get into a great UC or calstate.
I currently go to this school in 2012. All I can say is that this school is not right. The Teachers/Staff can care less how you feel/think.. The teachers do not explain lessons like they're supposed to do. Also, teachers will send the not so best students with another teachers in a different classroom about 3 times a week. Overall the school is horrible. I'm sorry but it is. I feel like the staff is abusing. ESPECIALLY the school police, they will randomly search you and give you grief for nothing that you did.. Accuse that you're under the influence. HORRIBLE school.
