Tustin Ranch is a well rounded diverse school with a great sense of community. I am proud to be a parent of this school. To see another comment (mentioned here) suggesting racism is very narrow minded. TRE has a yearly International Night where families volunteer and share their culture with others. This event is heavily advertised and is based on “who” volunteers. So if several families volunteer then many cultures are represented. After 8 years as a parent at this school I have seen both a variety of participation and other years where the turn out wasn’t the best. In regards to doing away with Student of the month Assemblies. (school-wide) that we’re 2 hours long, the new Principal dividend it by grades. The reason was so working parents could come and see their child and not miss hours of work. The new format is more meaningful. All of this can be found on weekly emails as well as in our kids take home folders. Reading is knowledge. Now for the teachers at this school they are amazing...each and every one of them. Love that we have a few male teachers, which coming from a mom of 2 boys, I think every male child should experience a male (role model) teacher. PS cut backs happen when funds are not available. Most Field trips come from PTA earned $$ so when there is no funds that equals no field trips. However, (again mentioned in school-wide communications) field trips were revamped this year to better fit with curriculum by grade level. Times change and evolve and TRE is doing the same. Every TUSD school is great and they all come with their strengths.

I, like just about everyone loved the previous principal Ms. Barquer - I have 2 kids at the school and one in Jr High who had her also. She was friendly, accessible, warm, did not play favorites, and fair. The new principal is not friendly, i reached out to her about a serious subject and never had any follow up. They have canceled student of the month which honored kids publicly, the international fair is totally racist.. if you are going to celebrate ALL cultures.. maybe DON'T focus and feature 1 culture. wow how non inclusive is that.. its international night i am appalled that we have celebrated mexico and korea what about the other cultures. we will not be attending and spreading the word. This is sending the wrong message to our children. What about giving points to kids wearing spirit shirts, that you get when you donate to the school -my child was sad to not get points for her table because we cant afford a shirt... thanks a lot. once again not inclusive .. I heard the new principal on day one on the job at back to school night gossiping with another teacher.. not impressed. How about the room parent meeting held in the middle of the day.. so i guess we only want stay at home parents volunteering. not inclusive.. TRE realize how non diverse your school is, your students and parents. Lets encourage working parents to participate, what a great role model this could be to show that having a job should not hold you back. Working parents want to volunteer and support their child and school. I noticed for years that teachers and principals only talk to the pta moms and they don's care to talk to anyone who is not a PTA mom. This school is so clickly, I would love to see a leader who cares about fairness, diversity, inclusiveness. I will be looking at transferring to a nearby school. Anyone reading this check out the schools up the street with much much much higher scores. I bet they are inclusive, diverse, non clicky & kind. I bet the school who got Ms. Barquer is flourishing.. I have no idea why they brought new principal Ms. Denni here.. she is not a good fit...she does not look like she enjoys being here. Shame !! They have cut back on field trips and assemblies and she has only been here 2 months... where is the money going ? advertising for Pause for the Cause ? if we made out goal last year why are cutting things out ?

My daughter is finishing 1st grade & her teacher Mrs. Gameroz has been amazing. We've been attending the school for speech therapy for 3 years & the SLP teacher Ms.Jennifer has been so effective in helping my daughter improve. The principal is very hands on attends every meeting stays involved. Great sense of community. So much great stuff happening with STEM programs.

Mrs. Barquer is an amazing principal! My son had some health issues at the beginning of the year and she was very proactive in making sure he stayed on track. She immediately set up a committee to come up with an action plan , I am amazed by how diligent the committee have been in following up and making sure my son gets the extra help he needs. I am so grateful my son attends this school.
