Do NOT even consider sending your children to NHUSD schools! The district only cares about looking good on paper and getting money from grants etc. They do not care about education. They punish teachers that are good at teaching and have high expectations from students. Why? Because these teachers make the children work for a grade. They want to keep teachers that easily give good grades and barely any homework. If your goal is to have children get a high grade without learning anything, then NHUSD schools would satisfy your requirements. Otherwise, don't bother.
This school has absolutely the worst writing program. At least in elementary school, there were proper writing lessons. At this school, there are no courses to improve grammar. Nor are there any professional modern writing to look at. The examples given to my daughters at school to read were either written by students her age with extremely bad taste for wording or they were historical documents written by politicians which only made school more boring for my children. To be honest, if the peer written articles were decent, then I would forgive them. But they're not. They don't have any good essays by well accomplished writers such as those from the New York Times. Those essays are well written, not difficult, and quite frankly, perfect for middle and high schoolers. I am disappointed by this school's low education standards.

I had a horrible experience with the Principle Jesus Varela. I came into the office very upset regarding a situation that had to do with my child and he made it worst instead of taking control of the situation he escalated by yelling at me in the front of the school office . He is very unprofessional he definitely is not a people person! I'm so glad this is my child last year otherwise I would switch her schools!
