I enjoyed being a student here. I, however, was only involved in advanced, high level, or AP courses, so my interactions with student and teachers involved in lower-level coursework were limited to very few classes or sports activities. My couches were dedicated and exceptional; one of my mile relay teammates for track went on to run for UCLA. I myself was incredibly effected by Mr. Miles and Mr. Brink a few years ago, which led to me working hard (albeit not as hard as I may have) and going on to attend UCLA.Overall, the faculty not involved in AVID or advanced classes were coarse, often rude, or beat-down by their inappropriate and rude students, and as a result were unwelcoming and uninspiring to myself as a self motivated individual -- I can only imagine if I were not so. On the flip side, administration and most of the faculty that were involved in advanced work were exceptional and kept me working towards my goal of higher education. The involvement of UCD, at least during my time as a student, was also unparalleled. Through The Seed, the learning center, UCD Math Circle (which was promoted by WHS faculty), and TANA (a free UCD-supported community art-making warehouse), I grew as both a student and as an individual.I believe that Woodland High School has leaps and bounds to make, but for those who are dedicated to its student and its growth as a learning community, do not falter in your efforts to help WHS succeed. I am but one success story that has come from those walls, and there have been and will be many more to come.Thank you for all that you have done.- S, c.o. 2014

WHS has been getting some unfair bad press lately. Although it is not perfect, there are many great things happening there including fantastic FFA, FHA, Speech and Debate teams and a world class music program that saw students playing at Carnegie Hall last year. There are many opportunities for kids to take AP classes and numerous kids have gone on from WHS to go on to top colleges in the country. Finally, the big secret of the town of Woodland should get out: WHS has higher test scores than Pioneer High!! Look it up!
