I love this school I am proud to send my daughter to this school

I have two children that have gone through Thomson since Kindergarten (my youngest is in 6th grade now). I am impressed with the quality of staff- they're seasoned, smart, creative, collaborative, professional, dedicated, friendly, and committed to the kids. Even when they need to hire a new teacher, they seem to get the best ones. Thomson is one of the few remaining schools that understands the value of retaining full time Art, Music, P.E., and Librarian teachers, as well as a high number of education and mental health support staff such as math and reading interventionists, speech therapists, and development coaches. It is economically and socially diverse, which some people view as a negative aspect, but I personally found that it creates a real world atmosphere in a safe environment. Some of the students that come here are behind in their education, which reflects on the overall school test performances, but those students are supported and they improve. Numbers don't tell much of the overall story. The district often sends teachers and other education professionals to visit Thomson because they want to understand how Thomson makes things work so well. Parents send their kids here from other districts, and other students that leave to try a different school often come back. My only wish was that it had more parent involvement. It is a great school, and I will miss the experience greatly as my kids move on.

Staff are all so friendly and know your student by name. They make learning fun and model good behavior in all aspects. I'm so glad we transferred here, my sons have made lots of friends are are excelling in their education.

How staff treat students is more important to me than anything because they model some of the most important qualities I want my child to pick up when he's not with me. The staff is so welcoming to every child and if a parent is involved in their child's education, they will do just fine. Parent engagement is the most important thing for a child to be successful, but a school that meets children where they are at is the second most important attribute. I love Thomson.
