My experience with the student body has been largely negative and it's gotten worse over the past couple of years.

I graduated Overland High School in 2017. The teachers and all faculty are extremely supportive of ALL students. The school provides students with endless resources (college help, ACT tutoring, mental help, etc.) Students of all races, backgrounds, and physical abilities are welcomed here. I am still extremely grateful I attended Overland High School

Overland high school is one of great high school in cherry creek school district in Colorado. My son is a freshman this year 2016. This school is one of big high school in Co and in very desirable location near Utah park and Jewell wetland park. The teachers. Staffs are highly qualified. The school rating is about average because of half of students are not college oriented or not trying hard.

I will admit that compared to the other CCSD schools, Overland is the oddball out. It cannot be helped that Overland may not be the most financially snug schools out there, but Overland is extremely hard working because of it. The kids in all departments - art, music, theatre, sports, etc. - work to the best of their abilities and are passionate about what they do. The educational opportunities and options can be endless if you know what you want and communicate with the staff as best as you can. Overland is definitely a large school and is no stranger to diversity and personality. As for the students, it may be nerve wrecking for new students unfamiliar with the place because many of the existing students had gone to Prairie Middle School, just across from the school. The students on the outside may have a rep. for being rough and tough, but it is up to you to find your diamonds in the rough that'll become your friends for the better part of these four years. It is also up to you to work hard and go to your teachers if you start to struggle. Like I said, Overland is a large school, with teachers dealing with so many students at a time - they can't easily spot out who's doing how in one of their classes. It's about communication here. I see many students complain about Overland and being overall pessimistic, because they shy away from their potential or get swept up with everyone else. Overland is a school for the fearless, not the afraid. It's a community that can be extremely fun if you take advantage of it. - A former student
