Excellent. State rating meant nothing in our case. We would have missed a life changing experience for our daughter had we only considered state rating. It was the reality of a great principal and a wonderful caring staff. School she transferred from due to our relocation had high state rating and lost a high degree of caring as they worked so hard on the academics and missed our child's emotional and learning disabilities needs. She is thriving in this caring environment, still struggles in some areas of academics due to her learning challenges. We do not care! She is happy, growing in confidence, safe, loves school and learning! Very upset if she has to miss a day. Would rather have this than overload on school with extracurricular activities. They are available within the larger community.

we just moved here at the beginning of this school year and my 2 kids, one at each end of the grade levels, have somewhat enjoy the school. One teacher good one bad no,extra curricular activities at all, all activities have been unplanned or not cared enough about for the kids to enjoy. Most of the teachers and staff are nice but a lot need to care more about the students instead of just their jobs, make things enjoyable for the kids.

OES has a very caring staff. My child went through Kindergarten last year at this school and his teacher helped him tremendously with his anxiety issues. The principal and front office staff are also very nice and attentive. Now my son is in 1st grade and his teacher is very nice, communicates really well with me as a parent, and my son is learning quickly. I went through the Olathe schools and am proud that my son is too!

There are some very good teachers at this school as well as some who should not be teaching. A "teacher" should never be condescending towards the students! We are still fighting the ill-effects of this behavior four years later. Overall, our experience with the teachers has been positive. From a volunteer stand point, I have enjoyed working with teachers from K-5 with the exception of one who told me I was not to help the students (it was my second go round with that teacher as my older student had had her and I was allowed to help the students that time). I believe that the expectations should be higher which would help the students in their future endeavors. I also believe that the Quest program is very advantageous to my youngest. I believe that the benefit of having him in this program has been incredible! I think that an accelerated program would be helpful more than one day a week. I think that the benefit of having a daily Quest program would be on par with the daily special ed program available in all schools.
