As an African American going to a predominantly white school, the administration doesn’t do anything for us. It’s sad because admin says that if they hear anyone say the n-word then they’ll suspend them. I haven’t seen that. So if you’re an African American, don’t go to this school, but if you’re caucasian then I highly recommend it. A positive thing I have about this school is that the teachers are amazing.

I have worked at three different area high schools in my career and this school has an amazing culture with both students and staff. It's an amazing sense of family for having 2,000 plus students. Relationships make a big difference in building respect and a successful educational environment.

I went to and graduated from this school a few years ago. The curriculum they teach is benefitial to students from an educational stand point but when it relates to the real world beyond education it lacks importance. The school has difficulties helping the students who have disabilities. These students fall through the cracks and are more times than not bullied by the students who focus more on athletics then excelling academically. A lot of the teachers don't seem to care about this even though it is right in front of their eyes. The saddest truth about this school is some of the teachers are bullies themselves. Being a student with a disability there is nothing more frustrating and overwhelming than having a few teachers make fun of you in front of your peers or behind your back for having a disability and taking a medication with side effects. Some of the teachers will even refuse to work with some students with disabilities, claiming that "your disability isn't severe enough for me to accommodate you" when a 504 plan is on record at the school.

CHS is a great school with a caring staff and fantastic students. The Link Crew and Sources of Strength programs are the best in the state.
