Eldorado K-8 School

Low. They took away my IEP and summoned CPS because we said something misleading. I'm the student. There was nothing wrong with our family.

We are so pleased with this school! The principal is fantastic and all of the teachers our children have had are friendly, clearly motivated and relate well to the kids and parents. Having come from an area with schools that are really quite awful, you really appreciate the difference. I feel that oftentimes parents have not experienced really poor schools and hence may be more critical than we are (our neighborhood school where we previously lived, and which we avoided, was rated a 2 with about 50% student and staff turnover each year, gang violence, vandalism, bullying, trash everywhere, etc. Every day I come to the school, I feel a sense of gratitude and relief to have my children in such a safe, excellent school with wonderful peers and teachers.

We have been with this school for a few years now. Overall, the school is decent and the teachers and principal do a good job. I find that there is no encouragement or acknowledgment for the "quiet" kids, who do well in school. There is no mention of academic achievement, as if the school has to protect the feelings of all the kids so they try to be fair by ignoring academic success. I have to convince my child daily that academic skills are important. My kids are under the impression that only colorful personalities matter and the parent has to be in the PTO.
