This school provides rigorous learning and excellent learning environment. However, I do want everyone to know that teachers do tend to be biased and show favoritism. Also, the school does not offer a hell many courses, but there are enough to make everyone happy. People here are really nice and use fairly good English-compared to kids from the school I am now. I also like how there are not too many kids here at DHHS. Everyone gets enough attention from the teacher and the teachers remember mostly everyone.

Two of my children attended the Madison Schools and I can definitely say that they do an adequate job educating students. In other words, there is nothing special happening here, despite the excessive and shameless self-promotion engaged in by school officials and residents alike. Two of my other children attended a top notch high school in another state and the difference was obvious! My advice to the town and school district is this: lose the ego and do some serious self study. Look for opportunities to improve instead of propagating the myth that everything is already perfect! It is not.

Daniel Hand High School provides an atmosphere only enriches students. The stereo type that all Madison kids are rich or that they think they are better than everyone else in the state is a total falsehood. The student body is open to all new and incoming students as I have first hand experienced this. Hand excels in athletic and academics which is a polishing rarity. Madison prizes itself in it's football program which receives most attention and was ranked in the top 10 teams from Maryland to Maine . The Boys soccer team this fall was ranked #8 in the nation for a long period of time as well. Hand also boasts many advanced placements classes that are open to students. Overall, this school continues to amaze me with the extremely helpful guidance offices, the office administration, the teachers, even the janitors, and the coaches. This school is a gem in this town.

Having sent my oldest here for one year, I was not impressed with the school. The average student gets lost in the cracks, with no assistance or follow through from the guidance dept. Sports are ultra competitive with many students quitting after years of playing due to the coaches. The student body as a whole has an air of superiority because they have always been told Madison is better than everyone else. Not so. The trimester class schedule is not conducive to strong learning and 60 min. classes are too long for 14-15 year olds.
