It's time for parents 2 take accountability 4 their kids - and address the fact that if they think there is a bully issue - that it clearly does not fall on the school / it falls on the parents & how they hold their kids accountable 4 their actions ! On top of that - look at the kids ages we are dealing with !! This is when bullying usually starts - and the kids start 2 TEST the limits ! I have had kids in big city schools as well as small towns like Portland and there is no differance! It is a issue nationwide & Portland is no differant ! What's differant from when we where raised 2 now is the parenting and it falls on us! Today parents CREATE a sense of entitlement 2 these kids that is like no other - & it clearly shows!

Absolutely agree with previous comments; way too much bullying throughout this entire system. Administrators interested only in image and 'yes man' each other--parents don't count. Teachers and cirriculum very good but unless your kids have ultra thick skin and can focus solely on the academcs (IF other kids will let them, that is), don't spend your hard earned $ on taxes in this town.

Yes, parents must take accountabilty for kids but too many parents (everywhere) DON'T. This town is no exception; With nearly 20 years of parenting in this school system, we noticed it is not unusal for children of transplant citizens/taxpayers to have a tough entry into the school social structure of the school system. Newcomers don't have the advantage of knowing the social structure as townies do. Middle school years (like many public middle schools) were the absolute worst and administrators proved to be shockingly ineffective. As someone told friends decads ago, "Many people here send their kids here until 8th grade; then seek alternatives." 20/20 hindsight--would NOT bring children to this school system. Since administrators are beholden to BOE/community expectations, magnet and private schools are super alternatives.
