We intended to move to Westport "just for the schools" but after much thought decided to keep our kids in the Norwalk school district. We came to the conclusion that compared to Brien McMahon and Norwalk high schools, Staples high is in actuality equally rated and not all that. More modern classrooms though. Brien McMahon high in Norwalk offers an international baccalaureate degree, which is demanding to get. And a global studies program. Norwalk high has early college courses, students can graduate with a highschool diploma AND an associates degree Can wholeheartedly confirm that the Norwalk school district is without question a leader in educational innovation, new initiatives and preparing students for a competive world. Plenty of Norwalk students get into Ivy Leagues on their own merit.
Our son is truly thriving at school. Teachers actually care about their students. Strong curriculum with depth and students are well prepared for college. Their top students last year headed to Harvard, Yale and other top institutions
Both my kids love this school. Great support from teachers in what they are interested in. So many teachers go the extra mile to make sure kids understand the material. When one of my kids bombed a test, the teacher sought her out and explained why. Since then she got straight A's. Extra curricular activities are excellent. It's a safe school and the children are respectful of each other. Great attitude of school staff. The adminstration listens to parents and adjusts proactively (happened twice in last year alone). We moved from California Bay area, and compared even to the private schools there, Staples is a notch higher. Recommend!
My 2 kids went through Staples and both landed in top universities, secured internships and went immediately into careers with complete financial independence. Both children were well balanced between academics, athletics and artistic pursuits. They are well rounded adults with a huge network of friends from their time at Staples. They are truly moving and shaking in the real world. Enough said!
