Problem with Admin - A guidance counselor literally told me that letters of recommendation are considered "frowned upon" for college applications. When brought to the attention of an assistant principal, I hit another dead wall. Communication and Admin - poor

It was seriously terrible, honestly felt horrid coming here. Parents said this is a great school when it actually sucked, I didn't learn anything when in class and have to come to tutoring to actual understand what's going on.

Our son went through the school and our daughter is now in her first year there. A security issue recently came to light when a former student sailed right through the paper-thin security one morning to sit with a bunch of the female students in the school's inner sanctum. The boy wasn't the problem - the problem is how he managed to get in so easily, simply on the basis that he looked of an age to be a student there. An email was promptly dispatched to the head of the school's security - the same individual who boasted to parents at the beginning of the school year how secure the school is - we never heard a word back. I sent a follow-up note of concern to the school principal, the woman who's supposed to oversee the overall safety of the students in her charge - I never heard back from her either. In anyone's language that's just plain rude yet typical of the attitude we've encountered before at the school. We're not high maintenance parents by any means, in our son's four years there we only ever contacted the school on one occasion, only to come across the same deafening silence. But when we're entrusting our daughter's safety to the staff there and and safety issues arise I expect to be heard and at least acknowledged. Any notion that the principal is simply too busy up in her ivory tower to deal with the 'little people' (parents) is pathetic - if she's too damned busy then she should delegate and respond accordingly. As things stand I wouldn't give two cents for what the school laughably considers security - the boy who wandered in could have been armed to the teeth. They clearly need appropriate protocols at the gates to oversee who's coming in at any given time. As for their lockdown procedures? Ask any student there of the farce that took place a few months ago when the school was sent into a blind panic by a poorly organized drill.
