Loggers' Run Community Middle School

We moved here from another state, our previous school was rated 9 as well, I think a 9 in FL is different than a 9 in other states. The school is small and outdated, I definitely felt like the county/city do not value their schools. At the time I had an on level 6th grader and a gifted 8th grader. The 8th grader, comparing his experience to the previous year in our old school, said that the work was not advanced, he actually said he felt like his classes were making him dumber!!! They rarely had homework, they rarely had projects or long term assignments. It's just not a very engaging instructional school. My kids were shocked at the level of bullying, vaping and drugs it was much more than the school they had come from. We did have a wonderful Italian teacher, they still talk about how great Mr. Volpe was. I eventually started asking around if there was a better school we could go to, I'd even move and after talking to a variety of people ( parents, and a few people that worked in the school system ) they recommended private school, which was too expensive for us. My husbands co-workers recommended home schooling, which I can't do. I ultimately was able to move back to our original state and we are back at schools we feel comfortable with. If you live in FL, I'm not sure what to say. I've talked to people in central FL that love their schools. If you are thinking about moving to FL, do not go by the ratings, a FL 9 is not another states 9, unfortunately. I live in GA, which is not known for great schools, if you're moving from another state ranked in the top, I don't think you will be happy with Loggers Run.

My daughter loves the school, the teachers, her medical program and her new friends she made. She is so happy to go to school everyday.

It's up and down. Some teachers are very good and some experiences are good. There is a serious vaping issue at the school and bullying is dealt with sporadically.

Very good school, my daughters are so happy there!
