The teachers here are rude, disrespectful, and dont help you when you need it.Theres too much tests and homework and students can barely even focus on their mental health/ anything outside of school because theres so much homework. NEVER GO HERE!

Pretty bad, 8th grade year was the worst. Teachers were worse than uncommunicative, bordering on apathetic. School does not encourage communication with teachers and makes it very difficult to schedule conferences. Teachers were unresponsive to concerns and even lied about what they planned to do to help.

What's sadly ironic about West Hernando Middle School (WHMS) is that despite its administration's obsession with testing, more than 80% of its students are not proficient in English and Math. Let me briefly explain why that is the case, and why you should not send your child here. At the end of each quarter, students at WHMS take computerized exams, so its administration can closely monitor their progress, and there are four quarters in a year. Theoretically, this sounds like a great idea. In reality, however, it takes valuable instruction time away from teachers and is highly disruptive for the students, given that it takes about a week--a week during which students are not in their regular classrooms and don't have regular schedules-- to administer these tests. To be more precise, throughout the year, they will take tests for their regular teachers, four computerized tests for English, four computerized tests for Math, four computerized tests for Science, a practice computerized writing exam, a real computerized writing exam, and a end-of-course exam for English, Math, and Science. Excluding the tests they take for their regular teachers, that's total of 17 exams; they should only take the five additional end-of-course exams. Clearly, the administration at WHMS has placed too much pressure on its students and staff, and they are burning out because of all the testing.
