South Seminole Middle School

its a great school my daughter rebecca was getting ready to go there but we moved.robert jacob hoffman the 3rd goes there.

First, let me say that Ms. Dean in the office is amazing! She really knows what shes doing and she has a fantastic personality. However, although my daughter likes the school a lot there is one issue that is very upsetting. A sixth grade social studies teacher INSISTS on calling my daughter by her first name when she is fully aware that my daughter goes by her middle name. My 11 yr old has repeatedly asked to be called by her middle name and for some reason this one teacher refuses to do so. The students tell me this same teacher is very rude and sarcastic. They need to fire herand quickly. She is rude, non responsive to emails and was caught flat out lying about several things.

Well, like any school, there are positives and negatives. For the positives: Teachers seem genuine and caring. Communication is good and tutoring/resources are available. Cafeteria is spotless. For the negative: Administration appears disorganized and policy questions go unanswered. Discipline is sorely lacking ( fights and unsafe environment). Common Core standards were applied this year with little professional development for the staff.

My son has attended this school for 2 years now. I don't have enough characters to explain how many things going wrong here! Participation Grades of 100% across the board and then straight D's and F's on all test!!! When confronting administration they act clueless that they about the egregious education given to the LEVEL 1 & 2 FCAT KIDS!! DON"T worry if your kid is in the Pre IB program you'll get Books, Homework and everything they needs to succeed. But if your child struggles they just get sloppy seconds and passed along!! I am pulling my son ASAP even if I have to work 2 jobs to pay for school.
