This is a terrible school. Administration is completely out of touch with the students. Teachers don't care. The staff at the front office and guidance office are rude condescending and uninformed

As a former student, I can say there's a plethora of bad things about this school. It's a toxic environment for students, and it's not recommended to attend here unless you want your high school experience to be ruined. The teachers don't care about their students, and even some of them would go as far as putting them down in terms of success, are incompetent with running their classes, are unprofessional by being outspoken about their personal beliefs and lives, and even one of them allegedly cursing out their students. This is unacceptable and needs to be looked into.Counselors are incompetent and condescending. They're not supportive and are apathetic of your problems when you come to them. If you're already enrolled in a course and find that you're dissatisfied with it, good luck trying to get out of it easily. Also, detention doesn't exist here. If you were just tardy to class, you'll automatically get in-school suspension.Aside from the issue with the staff members, it's very frequent to find other students here doing drugs or having sexual encounters in the restrooms. The cafeteria food is terrible, and it's laughable at their attempts to modify the layout of it and give it a "cafe-like" style as if the food wasn't terrible. To sum it up: for the sake of your emotional and mental health, don't attend this school. It's a draining, unhealthy environment, and the principal doesn't care about her students at all. It's all about competition to her, and she attempts to sweep all issues under the rug. There's zero school spirit, and it's actually very sad that incoming students end up being in this rathole.

Prior to choosing a place to live when I relocated my son to Florida, I researched area high schools. I chose East Ridge for its A+ rating. My son and I were extremely disappointed in the educational system. My son attended this high school for the past two years. It seems that high academic achievement is not valued by the district. Guiding the students into their correct academic programs is definitely not this schools priority. From his first day of his junior year, it has been a struggle to enroll him in the correct classes. The first two months of school consisted of lines of students trying to get the classes that they needed after being assigned to classes incorrectly. Luckily for my son I advocated for him. Other students were not so lucky. The guidance department's role is to guide students to success in high and beyond. In two years, my son had multiple counselors. Each counselor gave us different information regarding the programs offered. When my son would speak to a counselor, he left frequently feeling like he was talked down to and his concerns had no value. He was enrolled in an AP class where the teacher verbally told the class that he had no experience in the subject. The school puts students in classes to even out the numbers regardless of their academic success. Students are enrolled in AP classes because those classes needed students to fill the classroom. We did encounter some excellent AP teachers in Calculus, English and Government. If you have a high achieving student, this is not the school for him/her.

I was bullied for 2 years bye the same student to kill myself and had several witnesses and 2 others also being told these threats. The first day I reported they said this is serious and will see this person expelled but the next they come to me saying they have decided to drop the case. Not to mention the lack of decent staff, even the most competent ape could run this school this school. Please if you have the option do anything to stay away from this rat infested school.
