We recently moved here from Tampa and searched for a school we thought would benefit our child before finalizing which area/district we would live in. From the day we registered our child, there has been absolutely ZERO organization on the schools end. They told me there wasn't a "welcome" packet to provide me with dates the school was out or events/functions. Two weeks after enrolling my child I received a call at 2:30 asking me if I were coming to get my child...at which I was currently pulling in (mind you they release at 2:30). Apparently, it was a half day that day and I wasn't ever told, nor given a new student packet that would have shared that information just as his last school did. My child wanted to try the school lunch so I kept sending him with money not knowing you had to pay online in advance. It was until my son came home upset because he was trying to buy something extra and the lunch lady told him "no, you're holding my line up" and he was sent out. Come to find out he'd had not paid one day of lunch because they wouldn't take money and never bothered asking him if he had a student number. I didn't find out he was suppose to give the lunch ladies a number or prepay online until a conference I made after having so many issues. My child cries and begs me to not make him go daily. He has been stabbed in his back with a pencil, had food taken from him, and a keychain his grandmother bought him ripped off his backpack. I tried speaking to the principal but the office said she was unavailable. I was told the VP would contact me regarding the bullying and no one called me. I finally got a conference with his teacher but he still comes home with minor issues. The front office is rude and unprofessional. If you can avoid this school, I would highly suggest it. We are currently looking to move or find a private school we can afford to just get away from this place. The sad part is we stayed in Tampa for three months while my children's father lived here searching for a place that I agreed to the school in, and it's been nothing but a disappointment so far.

Like most public schools in Florida, Plumosa has it's challenges (testing issues, teachers that are not quite as highly qualified as most of the others, some communication issues), but Overall, I LOVE Plumosa for the unique things it does offer: Most of the teachers are amazing the Arts program is such a blessing in an age where arts are no longer regularly incorporated into the early classroom the Dual Language is making my boys bilingual, respectful, caring teachers, staff and students and the school facilities are top-notch.

We have been here for one school year and our daughter loves it. The school of arts affords the kids to grow and enjoy things that they love. Also she is getting a great education and the services for speech and esl are phenominal. The teachers at this school care and challenge the kids. We chose this school district and have not been disappointed.
