The current principal is amazing. He is engaging with the children and takes an active interest in all of their success'. The PTA is wonderful as well. Many activities available for the students. I have 2 children there and I have yet to have a bad experience with a teacher, administrator, or any employee. I never worry about leaving my children in their capable hands.
It is still a very new school, so that makes it difficult to compile a valuable amount of info to make a quality determination.Based off of my experience as a parent of a student thus far:1) The attendance is a bit unsettling in how it is handled. There is no calling in for students, only a note when the student returns. Meaning, if my child were swiped from their bus stop on their way to school, hypothetically, I would have no idea until the child didn't come home due to their system. (Not something that I find effective or assuring)2) The teachers are young and dedicated, but not all have the experience desired to deal with troubled children, or children from troubled homes.3) I expected the academics to be a bit more advanced given their rating. With how basic it is, there is very little challenge. 4) The parking lot , drop off, and pick up system seems lacking in its efficiency. The intention is there, but not enough is done to keep it punctual. This isn't a bad school, as there are worse ones in Gainesville, but there are serious concerns.
My kids grade 5 and 3, went to this school. It is very good school. Teachers are very good and very supportive. My daughter received presidential award and prefect score in FCAT. All the credit goes to the teachers of this school.
I went to this school last year for my 5th grade year (which was the first year this school was open), and it was amazing. The teachers were so supportive and understanding and a decision that included you in any way was always asked by you before made. I could not have asked for a better school to end my elementary school years.
