my child has been with this magnet for a few years years and it has gotten worse and worse. There are a few teachers that care but many of them do not. Safety is not a concern with the school...only the arts. I would not recommend anyone sent their child here. This is from a very involved parent that was volunteering almost twice a week. If you think they are so great..I recommend you sit in on a few of your child's classes

Great school with great people working there that really cares about the children and their education. If you re a parent that stays on top of your child and are involved in their education you should have no problems from this schools faculty. However, if you just send your child to school and do NOT follow up on things then all you will get it is what is written in the child planner and you will miss out on so much more. The issue is no the school but most of the kids parents are NOT involved enough until it is too late or after the fact, be proactive and you and your child will love this school. I pulled my son from an A school to attend her for their music and arts program, he is doing GREAT and I have no REGRETS at all. I make him do more than the school standards at home and he has flourished here educationally and with music and arts.

My daughter went to this school last yr and we loved it but we transfered her to a school closer to our house, needless to say that was a mistake! She will be going back to this school next yr! The teachers and principal are very involved with the students! I loved everything about it! Can't wait until she is back there!!!

I would like to say to any parent interested in transferring their child to this magnet program that the staff appear to care more than the the traditional schools, however, it is important to hold them accountable, for your child's learning in the classroom and to make sure they provide the support needed in the classroom and assist you as the parent with additional resources to help your child. It's important to stay involved in your childs education but it is imperative that THEY COMMUNICATE with you when their is a problem...You are not in the class and you are not the teacher for educational curriculuum ... you should assist them by making sure your child is at school and rested but it is thier RESONSIBLITY to educate your child as it relateds to the learning process in the classroom and to inform you when your child is not excelling!
