As a child I attended LAE. It was a great school. The teachers was amazing and cared about the students. When Mrs. Castle was there she ensured each child recieved a quality education. The teachers went above and beyond. As a parent you want your child to have the best experience. I removed my son from private school and enrolled him at LAE so he could have a great educational experience I had at LAE. I drove him everyday as we weren't zoned for Lake Alfred. I am very disappointed in how much that school has went down. After 1st grade I've had nothing but problems. This will definitely be his last year. I have to reach out to check on my child's progress to ensure he is where he need to be. They will contact you for things that has no bearing on the child's education such as missing assignments. There are also other parents who has experienced the same thing. Just this last grading period my nephew who is a new 4th grader to LAE recieved a "F" and "D". He's been a straight "A" student since Kindergarten. When this was brought to Mr. Burkett he stated all children in the class will be passed bc they've had a sub all year. Now all of a sudden today 1/29/19 my newphew get another report card which both grades are now a "B". Just two weeks ago he was failing until I threatened to go to the school board and possibly the media. So tell me how this happened all of a sudden?? Mr. Burkett and Mrs. Wilson are definitely not the type leader Mrs. Castle was and I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone

There's a lot of things that need to be changed and actually have a principle & teachers that have patients and compassion with kids. Principle never says hello to parents.

I would give this school an excellent rating just based on the staff alone. However this year they are slipping from an A to a C grade, which is really important information to me. The school and neighborhood dynamics have changed a lot over the past few years. This factor may have greatly contributed to the grade drop as well as the change in the scoring scale itself. However, the staff has remained the same for the most part. Matt Burkett is the current Principal and he is always available for a chat and has that roll up our sleeves personality. My daughter went to pre-k with Ms Bess, which is a Doll. Wonderful, wonderful Teacher. We're now in K with Ms Williams and loving it.
