Mims used to be a great school until they closed down south lake and started shipping those children to mims. It's not the teachers. It's the kids and lack of support from home for these difficult children. I am withdrawing my children to another school if a position opens. If not they will most definitely not be attending next year. I am also a regular volunteer at the school and see from behind the scenes just how far downhill this school had gone. It's very sad. Terrible decision from the district to close the other school. I thought they had educated people making decisions!!! Obviously not!

Moved from another state and was in this schools district sadly. Teachers were more about socializing rather than helping with problems. My son was teased and it was allowed. Spoke with his teacher and was told I was attacking her. Spoke with the principle and was told she knew the teacher personally and could not believe that. No help there. My youngest was made to clean the restroom several times after another child who urinated on floor. The staff knew it was not my child but still made her clean. I requested a transfer and told the principle if I did not get one i would call the news. My children were moved and I was so thankful for that. Staff is to personally close to be dealing with children from outside of their circle.

As a parent I am very pleased with the care and concern the staff show to the students---they seem to really care! I have 2 children in the school. The staff are very well qualified. My daughter hates Math, but loves Mrs. Speece, who goes out of her way to make sure she understands it. My daughter has had to miss a lot of school, and all of her teachers have made sure she could make up the work by either staying after school or going early to complete it. The principal takes time to be involved with the students and staff, and helps to create a very warm environment. The teachers keep the children in control which makes it nice. I think it is wonderful that the whole staff gets involved with activities. I can't say enough positive about the school.
