This school is beyond horrible. I moved here a couple of years ago from Pennsylvania. Let me tell you, the school system in this state is a joke. They lump language arts and social studies together so you never know which one your child will actually learn. I didn't see the first piece of homework until January. I could tell language arts was a problem for my daughter to begin with. I've contacted the school and teachers multiple times about it to no avail. She finally got homework a few weeks ago and has absolutely no idea how to do it. The first couple of times I gave her a lot of help. Then I decided the teacher needed to see for herself how badly my daughter was struggling. She ignored it. So I had my daughter point it out to her. She told my daughter that she just needed to read it more than once (which I already have her do) and that she did good on tests. I'm sorry, I don't see how that is relevant to the fact that her reading comprehension is not where it should be. There tests are a joke. This whole school is a joke. I won't let my child fall through the cracks. If you know what's good for your son or daughter you will find a different school.

I have two children in the Gifted Program. As of this year a major revamping of the Gifted Services has taken place. A critical thinking unit is covered every day, a cross grade design thinking unit is worked on in small groups , and there are monthly take home projects given to each grade in an age appropriate manner. The school finally replaced some teachers who were not up to par, including one who refused to use county curriculum, and showed movies to the children in order to correct assignments in class. Parents are applauding the change for the better and we're only in Mid September. The community at large is warm and welcoming and you may consider giving Chisholm a second look.

Does a great job in a multicultural setting with limited resources
