Horizon Academy At Marion Oaks

Scary, I never thought I had to be scared or worried about my child in school. I should have been, I absolutely should have been.

I'm currently a sophomore at Dunnellon High School and I still have nightmares about this school. For examples, I just learned last year that I had gotten two referrals for dress code in the seventh grade, which is crazy because I followed the dress code the best I could. As a larger girl sometimes conventional uniform isles and stores don't sell things in your size, so for me buying clothes for school was the worst times ever. Also the disciple office definitely discriminated against who to dress code and who not to because I'd go to school and be constantly called into the disciple office for the craziest things like my nature hair color being labeled unnatural or my hoodie have too large of a logo when there was no logo even on it and things like this occurred with multiple people so it wasn't just me. Honestly I say if you have the means don't send your child here because in the long run even the best/smartest student will usually end up with one referral and lower grades then they should have gotten.

This is my daughther's 3 rd year at this school. And I must say ever since this new principle has come in the school the staff has been so rude. One time my daughter was late and the lady in the office said comments if my daugther underneath her breathe. They need to direct their comments to the parents. I understand that they have to have strong rules but they are ridiculous. My daugther one time had to go to the gym to get her jacket that she forgot and Got a referral for taking more than 5 minutes. They are so stupid they have nothing better to do. I am also not to happy with some of her teachers. They need to bring back the principle they had before. The school was running a lot better before.
