This school is in a community where not many parents are involved. Parents need to understand how IMPORTANT it is to be involved during most important time during middle school. It takes teachers, staff, AND parents for student success at schools. Lockhart Middle is doing great, despite the few resources it has from Orange County and despite it being in a low-income community. The schools in this community have dedicated and caring teachers with small 500-800 student enrollment; compared to these "A" schools that students do not get the attention or caring from school staff, maybe due to big student enrollment of 1000+. The school letter grades are not based on the success all year or the quality of teachers and caring of staff; this grade is based on a unstable state test and its this same state that gives schools a letter grade. My sons and daughter we have attended and our families do not think the school grade gives Lockhart Middle the justice it deserves. Lockhart Middle offers many High School Credit Classes and supports the Arts by offering great courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, Music, and Math. Lockhart Middle is a "A" school in our book.

My niece and son came from a elementary school with a great deal of parental involvement, but I do not see much at Lockhart Middle. I see the few PTA members when taking my niece and think it is shameful that more parents do not attend school meeting. Parents must be involved somewhat in their child's school, no matter how busy they are. Middle school students are not grown ups, they still need parent guidance. This will help students get a good education, with the help of their parents. Teachers and school cannot do it alone, it takes a village to raise children. My son will be soon attending Lockhart Middle, a great community school, with staff picking up the slack for parents who CAN but WON"T.
