Love, love this school! Our family decided to try out this school as a result of bullying. We are so tired of our child being broken down as a human being on a regular basis just because she's the new kid. She always had a lot of friends and had great relationships with teachers until a move took her to a school where they weren't acccepting of anyone outside of their "box". There wasn't much of a difference in the St. John's county middle school she attended. While most of the teachers were great, some were lacking in skills that would make a child feel comfortable. While she made friends, there was still so much bullying that we realized she was never going to excel to her full potential in that environment. This virtual school eliminates all of that. She can still have friends that are kind to her, and do sports in the county, but no longer has to be subjected to feeling like she is worthless every time she goes to school. She went from average grades (which started when we moved the first time) to making straight A's again immediately! She is learning so much more than she ever has because there are no distractions from other students. Her school day lasts anywhere from 2-5 hours each week day. Her confidence is also back, so she's happy every day. Not to mention sometimes she can do school in her pjs. The teachers are there for her every day of the school week and are so kind all the time. All of us communicate more with the teachers than when she was in school! She gets to go at her own pace so she can jump ahead to finish the school year early or go at a steady pace to finish normal. She can also jump ahead to take another class early. I hope that this program gets bigger so more students can be accepted into it for families like ours who just want our children to feel safe and get a great education so they can grow into happy, well adjusted members of society.
