We have been at this school for four years. Both of my children are receiving a wonderful education. The teachers are experienced and caring. The building is newer and the neighborhood is great. The PTA is very active and helps make this feel like a community school. My children have enjoyed the after school activities too. They've been in run club and garden club. This year they are also doing STEM club, Challenge Island, and strings. We feel very lucky to be at SAE!
The first 4 years my daughter attended her experience was decent. The last year she had two female teachers who only concentrat d on fcat scores. She stuck in groups with 3 kids with behavior problems and it seemed they were left to teach each other. At a parent teacher conference I was told my daughter was stubborn and I got the distinct impression her two teachers did not care for her. I pulled her out of the school, she hat d school because her two teachers were bullies
We have had a child at SAE for 9 years now and have found the staff, teachers, faculty, office, PTA and other students to be exactly what a parent would want in a school. Even with the typical challenges the teachers face with changing tests, curriculum, and disruptive students, the entire faculty have been responsive and honest about their perspective and work to find solutions for your child. As with life, I believe our success has also been due to the old saying, you get what you put in. When you are active with PTA, volunteering, and communicating, as well as holding our children accountable for their efforts to learn. MAGIC. Luckily, this school has a large population of parents doing this.
This school has such a great community feel and the teachers and staff really care about the kids here. Year after year, my son's teachers have been incredible. I honestly don't think there are any bad teachers at this school. Over the past 5 years, my son has been able to participate in a variety of school "clubs": S.T.E.M., Mad Science (this program comes to the school), Chorus, Violin, Glee, Garden Club and, new this year, Running Club. I can't say enough about this school and will be sad when we'll have to leave our little "cocoon" and move up to middle school after next year.
