Florine J Abel Elementary School

We can't imagine better elementary school for kids - very kind teachers, great support for ESOL, nice family activities through whole year. Our kids (VPK, and 1-2 grade) made a huge progress in academics and English! Thank you Abel! and especially for mr.Horner, ms.Haslem, ms.Brown and ms. Claim.

I have two son's, one typical and one with special needs. It seems like I have to threaten to get any services for either of them. This may be a system wide problem but my typical child can't get any help because he doesn't have a diagnosis, it's beyond frustrating! The teachers seem overwhelmed with large classes and OFTEN do not communicate with parents. I REALLY don't understand this, parents cannot support the teachers efforts without communication but yet they don't take 15 mins at the end of the day to do this! Also the teachers don't give out their email address on the school website so you have to call each time to talk with the teacher.

Very problematic school. My daughter, a very bright girl, experienced a lack of attention due to greater attention paid to high need students. The experience slowed her educational attainment in this school and in my opinion, the leadership in the school should attend to this issue. I transferred my daughter out of this school and into a private institution.
