So far the experience has been very good. One child graduated this year and another has 2 more years. I am impressed with how open-minded leadership is from the principal down to PTO. The teachers work with you.

This is a terrific school with an incredibly dedicated staff. The administration sees to it that every child is treated as an individual. Tons of extra activities, clubs, and groups to join. Both of my children love it.

I could not be more impressed with the competence, enthusiasm and creativeness of the teachers at J. D. Parker. In all honesty, I was less than enthusiastic enrolling my kindergartner into a school rated one of the worst in the district, but boy was I wrong! In the five years at J.D. Parker, we have encountered more passion and support than I could have ever expected. Your child is not just a number, but an individual. The teachers and administrators are always creating new ways to make learning fun and engaging. Learning takes place at school, so you are not bogged down on weekends completing projects, reports and recitation practices for your child. The lack of extra homework or the school grade has not made a bit of difference in the students' success. In the contrary, my child has earned top marks in the standardized testing for example. Events are organized mostly by a small, but active group of PTO parents and resemble more of a "old school" gatherings rather than the big productions you may encounter in the wealthier school zones. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming.

One of the things I love most about this school is that the teachers/staff all seem to LOVE what they do and LOVE the children. Not only that, they are always on the cutting edge of what's new in education. The student is at the center of every decision that is made. The principal has an open door policy and is always eager to listen. All students at this school are offered FREE breakfast and lunch! There are many opportunities for families to gather together as a community. I also love the diversity at JDP which mimics the real world in which we live. If you are zoned for JDP and have any reservations, just schedule a tour and you will be blown away!
