Plant High School

Parents have long expected their kids who go here to have a strong college prep experience--and it is that strong parental involvement that keeps administration, teachers and students on a strict-nose-to-the-grindstone approach to high school education. Competition is strong--just like the rest of serious students' lives.

The school system here isn’t the best. They don’t document everything unless they want too. So there getting away with some things that shouldn’t be tolerated period.

College prep is big at Plant, it's the biggest goal of the school, everyone attending a four-year university. I went here, and the homework can be a bit much, especially with all the extra curriculars most kids do. Still, I know that it prepared me for college, more so than any other public school around.

Plant puts a huge amount of emphasis on college prep which is great but the homework load is absolutely ridiculous. They have my child for nearly 8 hrs a day and then give him another 3-4 hrs of homework per night. Meanwhile, I have no idea what his grades are in at least half his classes because only a handful of teachers update Edsby in a timely manner, if at all. Teachers rarely respond to emails or messages on Edsby and if you can get anyone from the administration or guidance to respond to you, consider yourself lucky.
