Riverhills Elementary Magnet School

My child just finished going here after starting in kindergarten. The school is very active with hosting of lots of different events throughout the year. Several different festivals that you can tell a lot of work goes into. There are other events that happen like the cleanup of the local park. One thing that really impressed me is that even in kindergarten all the teachers seemed to know the names of all the children. Really struck me when my child was in kindergarten and one of the 5th grade teachers said their name in a good morning greeting. The school is also located right next to a nice large park on the river and is in a nice neighborhood. The teachers and the really involved parents did a lot of work here.

Do not be confused (like I was) with the words "Magnet" or "IBS" this is a poor school with poor leadership and poor results. Complacency is the staff's favorite word.

Top of the line. The inclusion of strings class led to both my kids falling in love with violin and cello. They have music class as well--the arts haven't been lost at this school. Finally, Spanish class has added a great dimension to the kids' education. It's only once per week for 45 minutes, but that's a building block for parents who want to pursue language learning. It's a foundation. We love this school, and I'm sad my older child is about to graduate.

We have 2 children at Riverhills and have been a part of this school for nearly 6 years. This is a great school. The staff and teachers know the students well and work extremely hard to make this a safe, positive, respectful place for kids to learn and grow. The state of FL school grade is NOT a reflection of the amazing things happening at this school every day.
