There are a lot of fights and kids really don't understand bullying. But overall the school's great.

Teachers are very efficient. They are strict when it comes to disciplining the kids which really helps my son in focusing on his studies and not getting into trouble. Very nice school

I am a parent of a 6th grader and I have to say i'm extremely disappointed with this school. It is a Magnet school who advertises and networks itself as a school with all these elective programs for the kids however my son has yet participate anything that was promised to him. They RAVED about their simulators which half of the time dont even work. The 6th graders barely get to engage in any activities and the bullying is out of control. My son went from being a very humble laid back kid to now having to defend himself every where he goes. The Teachers are somewhat ODD and lacking organization & follow up skills. They rarely communicate with the parents when it comes to important issues however they will call a parent if a student forgot a pencil. The teachers bribe students with candy and show favoritism. The PTA is another joke. The school is predominantly African American and YET there are no African American parents on the PTA & I don't see the effort being made by the PTA to engage these parents. Certain parents know about certain things and unless you are at the school EVERY DAY and u don't work then you will find yourself out of the loop on many issues and opportunities. EVEN some board members are clueless as to what is going on. Work doesn't get graded and sometimes the teachers forget to assign homework to kids and then penalize them for not completing it. Everything is pretty much done on computer applications which takes away the concept of actually opening a book & referring back information learned prior in the day. THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO LEARN but I guess Stewart is unable to afford textbooks for the students. JUST A BIG DISSAPOINTMENT. If it wasn't for my son being accepted into their John Glenn Academy I would have already removed him. I know more then 10 parents already who are not letting their child return to Stewart next year and If I don't see any improvement I also will taking my son out.

I am a former student from stewart and this school is the best I have ever been to! The academic qualities of the school are outstanding and I loved how ever teacher pushed you to do your best. Truly a fantastic school!:)
