Absolutely terrible. The only people that really helped me were the Rotary Futures people who helped me prepare for college.

This school treated me awfully, the only reason my parents didn't take legal action was at my request. As a student who has turned in documentation on illnesses to school, had all absences excused by their doctor besides the week they left to take care of their mom when she had to fly cross country for HEART surgery which was also excused, I was hated by administrators for no reason. I had a year of tough grades where admin pestered me non stop and teachers refused to help, it got so tiring the next year i went to school sick as much as i could and my I had no grade lower than a B. With no counselor or admin contacting me I got a letter in the mail telling me I was to finish the last two days in the semester and not return. I wish I had fought but I was so depressed and tired I could not. I do NOT recommend this school for any child, my doctor told me my response to this stress resembles someone who lost an immediate family member. There are no words to describe what this place did to my body and mind

1000 kids at each lunch. My freshman was told at orientation to not even bother with hot lunch because the line is so long she won't get her food in time to eat......really? What about the kids who don't have food at home? There are only 2 lunches available. A lunch and B lunch. Meanwhile at other schools with way less students they have 3 or even 4 lunches so the kids have time to go through lunch line, find a table and eat. Also, the start time at this school is way to early. The bus will pick my child up at 6:15. How's that healthy for a teenager to have to be up by 5:30 am and then expected to get good grades when they are exhausted. Most adults don't even start work until 8 or 9 o'clock. Then to top it all off she won't have lunch break until noon! That's 6 hours of no food, and exhaustion. But make sure you get straight A's. This school needs to change a few things and just maybe the kids test scores will climb and they won't be set up to fail.

Love the rebuilt school! It's clean, handicap friendly with 2 elevators, spacious classrooms, hi-tech touch screen "ActivBoards" in the "TEL" labs. The teachers and staff are friendly and more than happy to make accommodations for those who need them. Very large lunch room, great ROTC program, athletic progam...etc. I'd recommend this school even for School Choice! -From a student of Venice High School
