Winter Springs High School

Excellent so far. Staff and teachers seem to really care about students. The guidance staff can tend to be a little stiff, not very approachable.

I was so thrilled to see my son graduate WSHS today Sad that even when it was down-pouring the UCF Arena could not open the doors to let everyone dressed in their Sunday Best in BUT it was a wonderful ceremony and the speakers did an excellent job. This is a shout-out to Andrea Hormuth, Director Of Student Services, specifically. There have been instrumental people in my son's life to keep him from giving up when life did not make sense, authority let him down, and overall, power-plays and control was more important than reason.... Andrea Hormuth with WSHS rocked my son's world!! She is absolutely hands down the most influential, reasonable, supportive, motivating mentor a High School could ask for. Thank you, Andrea, for walking the walk-... for taking the time to slow down and think like a teen so you can reach out and speak out to a teen and have their ear.. for listening to a mom with your heart and offer empathy which comes so easily and readily for you. For outlining a future filled with hope and promise and accenting the positive while everyone is assessing what is wrong with each student. I would choose you for a friend; your honest wisdom shakes me up and gets me thinking but even more importantly it gets my son thinking and some kids just need to be impressed to spend the time and be attentive. You are doing what I believe God meant for you to be doing- changing lives. Giving hope. Encouraging growth. Teaching priorities. God bless you, Andrea Hormuth. I disagree with the parent that said the students that are more athletic are treated better. My child was never in any sports and graduated with honors and never felt left out.

I have been very please with Winter Springs High school, caring teachers, great FCAT and SAT scores!!
