My child went to kindergarten at this school and had a terrible experience. The teacher was not in control of the classroom. She did not keep us informed on our child's progress and when we questioned her she acted very annoyed and unprofessional. Most of her feedback was in the form of complaints. She aired her personal problems on Facebook including her divorce and new relationships. My child is now in first grade at a school in Gwinnett county. Although he has started the school year out being very behind academically, he has made more progress in the first month than he did the entire year of kindergarten.

I lOVE West Jackson Primary School we have a daughter (7) who started there in Kindergarten(Mrs. Williams/Mrs. Pursley) I was one nervous Mommy, but from day one the teachers were wonderful supporting, inviting, and caring always quick to address any of my worries or concerns as a first time school parent. She has just finished 1st grade(Mrs. Tinnell) we had another great year, she took my very over achieving, too hard on herself little girl and helped her ground herself and realize it is okay to fail at something as long as you try and learn something along the way. Along with that we had the great opportunity to use the After School Program, it was amazing ALL the people who help out it are wonderful and carting, and they helped with homework, did activities and got lots of attention. Generally speaking I have not run into a person at this school in the halls ways or at an event that was not super nice and genuinely caring about the school and the children at it I cannot wait for my youngest to start there in Kindergarten next school year, even though it means my oldest with be experiencing her last year there.

I had 2 children matriculate WJPS. My children loved their experience and had personal, loving support from their teachers all 3 years. The principal is always visible and available for the parents. However, only 3 out of 6 teachers had truly prepared my children for the CRCT for 3rd grade over the course of their WJPS curricula. The results were evident with my child's early, poor 3rd grade reports in all subject matter, and a 2nd grade teacher's laissez-faire attitude toward homework and preparatory CRCT criteria. Thanks to the teachers and staff at WJIS, my children completed their CRCT test preparation, as well as the CRCT, successfully. School is first and foremost based on the 3 "Rs" and academia in general. It is my observation that not all of the faculty at WJPS are preparing our children well for their future academic careers, even one building block at at time. Also, the principal does her best to conceal the academic and watchguard incompetencies of her younger faculty from the Jackson Co. BOE as well as the parents in general. Parents must remain ever vigilent in their children's education, while they attend WJPS, if they expect future success from their kids.

My child attended WJPS and although we "enjoyed" her experience at the school, I do not feel that they prepared her academically for what she needed to know for her future education. There are some great teachers at the school, however, I do not feel that there is much academic accountability in the school. Some of the teachers, although kind, do not prepare the children for what they need to know for their future education.
