They have no interest in getting to the bottom of problems that occur.

Beyond depressing and disheartening! After wonderful experience at CPS! Our children had to endure years of bullying and fear at CES! Melissa Bates has ruined what was once a wonderful school. The environment is very cold. Melissa Bates targets families she does not like and it is widely known and apparently accepted. If you have a child with learning needs your child will be targeted. If you have a choice choose another school for your child learning needs or not. Save yourself the time and frustration. Many complaints have been filed but the BOE and superintendent do not seem to care. Until Bates is removed this school will continue in a downward spiral. True to southern form everyone is talking about it but no know one will do anything to fix it! Will our new superintendent be the one to finally save CES? Let’s hope so!!

This is a horrible school! Their are a few good teachers, but some are bullies just like the administrator is. Fear reigns at this school. Students are terrified of the admin and staff. Only "certain" families and students are regularly rewarded with extras like: safety patrol, star student, etc... many wonderful students are overlooked due to their last name. The principal is completely unprofessional and is rarely present at school functions. They years when Ken McKenzie was principal were wonderful. Tis school has done way way done hill and will continue until the superintendent and board decide to do something about the admin! Many complaints have been filed nothing is being done!

My fourth grade daughter's grades are slipping horribly. I told her to ask the teacher if she doesn't understand something. She told me that her math teacher gets mad when the students ask questions and she is scared to speak up in class. They often move on to the next chapter with her not having a full understanding of the previous chapter. She and I both feel, the teacher is there only for a paycheck, not because she enjoys her job. She recently told me there are cliques of kids known as the "popular kids" who choose who is in and who is out. She stated that the kids deemed her as being out, so if any of the other kids talk to her then they too will become unpopular.
