outstanding teachers, administration, specials. I only hope we can stay throughout my son's elementary education.

We have been at Big Creek since my son was in 1st grade and every year, except one, we have had issues with the administration, teachers and support staff. They bump the grades so that they can have better scores at the end of the year. I heard this for myself from one of the teachers. She said "Your son has the highest scores in the class" I asked “Why does he not have a high grade, why did you give him the average (3)" She replies "We were told to not give anyone a four until the second semester." What? Some of the support staff are helpful and others are complete jerks.I was hoping with the new principle this year things would different, but so far we are still having issues.

We were new to US and put our kid in first grade of Big creek elementary. We had met the class teacher asking her to support my shy kid a little to help blend in to the environment. She simply replied "IT IS TOO CROWDED AND I CANT HELP ". There were no mails or notes from the teacher discussing kids progress. We had to email the teacher to check about the kid for which most of the time there was no response. Our kid was a performer in her previous school. We don't notice any improvement in her from last year .Our kid has lot all the cheer and confidence after joining this school. I would never recommend this school to any parent !!! Very bad terrible experience..

The teachers are good and the focus on academics is also appreciated at this school....in general all schools in Forsyth county. One of things that was very frustrating and exhausting with Big Creek is the endless amount of gifts they ask for teachers. I personally think it's unethical and unprofessional. This is an educational institute and unfortunately the focus in on keeping the teachers pleased all year long. The PTA gets carried away with constant gift giving for teachers. They need to spend extra dollars they may have on building their science lab. The front desk staff can be very rude and condescending. I also feel that this school hires a lot of young teachers and I am not prejudiced, but I think that they are not equipped with dealing with other issues the children may have in the classroom, besides academics. Training these teachers to deal with behavior problems in kids, would be beneficial. We had an ongoing issue with a student in my child's class who was picking on my son and other kids in the class. We brought this to the teachers and schools attention many times but finally had to have a meeting with the principal. You really need to speak up as a parent.
