My experience is great. You can tell the faculty and staff are trying the best they can to change the school for the better. As a student it's easy to get along with most people and its rare to get bullied here. I think there needs to be more parent involvement. The school is fine...it's the students that need a little straightening out.
I can honestly say I love Bethune! An amazing experience I've had so far with my two. It is in my community and although it is not the best school in the county I see growth and improvement with the strong leadership of Mr. Broome. There is so much care in the counseling department for my students that have attended. All the teachers communicate with me to make sure the best education is granted to my students. I have had the pleasure of observing classrooms while teachers try to teach and have found the students sometimes act as if we never taught any home training before leaving home. The community needs to come together and continue to support this school it CAN and will be greater with time. Get involved in your child's school and help everyone make a difference. I stay involved by going to the school checking on. I make phone calls and also send emails...there is no excuse not to be involved and know what's going on, this school gives all the tools to help your children succeed...I will be a parent of this community based school for the next 6 years so I'll touch base every so often to let my children experience be known this is a wonderful place to send future leaders.
Teacher's cuss in classrooms, yell and scream at students and put there hands on children. The teachers have not been properly trained on how to take control of their classrooms. The principal does not seem to be able to address teachers behavior or address disciplinary issues with students. Instead of inspiring children to succeed they are discouraging them.
My child is attending this school. Thus far this year it has been one issue after another. I don't understand how when I told the vice principal and principal they say that they will handle it and the fact of the matter they don't. I even went in person to the school to speak to someone and the same thing was said. I feel that this school needs to do what they said plus keep my child safe while in school. It is getting ridiculous! My child doesn't even want to go to school anymore. It hurts me because I have to make her go even though how she feels. As a parent I feel helpless. If anyone has any advice please let me know. Thanks.
