West Jackson has been amazing for the two years that my son has been there. He is now in 3rd grade, and we love everything about the school. The teachers an staff love these kids like they are their own, and support them in their learning every step of the way. The communication between teachers and staff and the parents is very open and active, and they do an amazing job of offering well-rounded curriculum and programs to nurture all types of students with varying interests and strengths.

While the school profile is outdated, the principal has changed since the last review as have the demographics and student teacher ratios, this school is phenomenal. The name has also been changed to West Jackson Elementary. Coming from Gwinnett county school systems I absolutely love this school. My girls feel more connected to their teachers and love going to school. There is so much more communication between the schools teachers/staff and parents. The principal is extremely active within the school and the students love her. Though the student teacher ratios have gone up they have still managed to keep that small town feel and the students are happy and well educated. My eldest has shown so much growth since being at this school both academically and personally. She has really grown so much confidence and reaponsibility while being here.I could go on and on about our experience here truly. I love the greenhouse being built and the mini farm they have set up with the chickens, rabbits, goats, and even the fish pond and the students are so excited to go see and help care for the animals and the school is just getting started. I can’t wait to see what will be coming in the next few years as my youngest still has several more years and my oldest will be off to middle school in the fall, excited to see what middle school holds for us after such an amazing experience with the elementary school!

I recently moved to Jackson County and had heard rumors about how good the schools are. I was excited to find out that the rumours are true! The teachers and administration at this school are excellent! They obviously care about the children and their education by putting the time and effort into teaching and working with the students and encouraging them to succeed. Not only does this school have great education, but it is also fun for the students. I recently went to the Panther Pride Assembly in which the students earn awards for their efforts, and when I walked in I felt such energy and excitement in the room. The principal, vice principal, and all of the teachers were there encouraging students and cheering them on. Also, from what I have seen the students are also very welcoming and friendly. My children quickly made friends in their class. If there are any prejudices amongst students, I have not seen or heard of any. Overall, the students seem accepting of one another regardless of color, race, or religion. I love seeing all of the students getting along and having a fun time together! Excellent teachers, great leadership, and wonderful families!

My child has had an excellent experience at WJIS! The teachers at WJIS are fantastic and are always willing to go the extra mile. They have encouraged her to always do her best. They have helped her to excell academically and build her self esteem. She enjoys school and every day feels safe, loved and excited to learn!
