Both my siblings and I have gone to this school and we all agreed that it was awful. We weren’t “bad kids” that were getting in trouble all the time, in fact we are all honors kids. My older sister had a large bullying problem here throughout the whole year. She continuously reported this to the deans, and they continuously ignored it to the point where my father had to schedule a meeting with the deans to have the issue properly addressed. My brother didn’t have many chances involvement in things he liked, so all he could do was keep his grades steady, which got boring for him very quickly. I suggest they should have more exploratory classes and clubs so everyone can be somewhere and not bored for 3 entire school years. Also, fights would happen just about every week in the halls, which means the deans have neglected an issue to the point where it became physical fighting (in my opinion and second hand experience, not surprising). Now, as for my personal experience, I am still attending this school and it could not be worse. First off, I went from being the happy, smart enthusiastic kid from elementary school to the quiet kid with anxiety (that this school caused, take that in mind) whose grades are going downhill. The teachers are fine, the students (or some of them) can only be described as rude and impatient. We do have a worsening drug and gang problem here (I think there were 3-4 incidents this year). They will also force you into things that are quite frankly, useless. This means student will lose energy, motivation, and time to do things that are important to them, like homework and extracurricular activities. A bad part about this is that report card grades are heavily reliant on homework (understandably), so if students are forced to take some after school survey or cut out vocabulary cards, students (especially those who have busy social lives) may not be able to cram all of it in one day and get a proper amount of sleep. I think that this school is just a mess, and I do not recommend sending your child here. Sorry if this review is long.

The school is located in a bad neighborhood. It also has many students who are reading lower than their grade level. Bullying is definitely an issue. The staff does adress it, but nothing ever changes. The Deans are not the best at looking at both sides of th story before they make their decision on the problem. Many teachers, especially the supervisors/ monitors, are very quick to send two students to the Dean's office. In my opinion they shold try to give one warning. Then, they should actually talk about the issue with the students involved. If the situation is not resolved, the next step should be a trip to the Dean's office.

I currently attend this school and I'm in 8th grade, so I know quite a bit about it. If you do well in your classes, (this doesn't mean you have to be an honor student, just not failing the class) you'll be okay for the most part. However, if you struggle in your classes, you may have a hard time keeping up with the class. Like someone mentioned before, last year there was a lockdown. It was a false alarm and the staff handled it very orderly. This school does tend to have some problems with gangs, drugs, swearing, and smoking, but if you steer clear of it, you'll be fine. The teachers are very helpful and as long as you don't be one of "those" students, they'll take a liking toward you instead of being mean (something the students here unfortunately need to learn). Overall, it's an okay school. Not the best, but not the worst. I honestly cannot wait until I get into Addison Trail High School though because you get a lot more freedom there than here. -Just an 8th grader
