I've worked at this school for many years under several principals. The current principal is passionate about Jefferson, the staff, parents and especially the students. She IS a team player who wants what is in the best interest of the students and school as a whole. I tend to find those few persons who may dislike her, (as in the May 10, 2014 review) are most likely those who know deep down they don't measure up. Jefferson, as a whole, has not only a wonderful principal but extremely talented, dedicated and passionate staff members who deeply care about the students they serve - with the exception of a couple of sour apples with a personal ax to grind. I believe those sour apples will continue to grind the same ax no matter who the principal is.

Sadly this school is run by a micromanaging principal on a power trip. She is constantly in the background of teachers' heads and it is obvious during meetings with parents, that silent signals are sent as to her pleasure or displeasure with what the teacher is communicating. And the teacher better change directions quick. There is an undercurrent of fear among the staff members. Everyone walks on eggs in this school because of the principal and no one will give a true opinion. Excellent staff members have either voluntarily left or been canned by this principal. Apparently she is building her own little kingdom without thought as to how the teaching team on a whole can come together and make things better for the kids. The district moves this principal from school to school and there is an audible sigh of relief when she is reassigned to a new school. School psychologists, social workers and nurses all avoid being assigned to this school, which means every year it's always the newbies that get sent to Jefferson. Anyone who has every worked there runs as fast as they can to get to another school. All I can say is beware!
