I love this school so much. It truly helps all the kids that go there.

This school, coming from another district, is wonderful. Instead of only giving lectures on bullying and proper ways to conduct themselves, the teachers and principle make the kids live up to the standards by reinforcement and discipline. My son was and is a target of bullies not being a star athlete or scholar but he has thrived in this environment because he feels protected and knows if someone hurts him he can go to teacher/ principle and get reinforcement. The principle is readily seen throughout the school and doesn't just sit behind his office doors. The standards of this school is why I am glad to live in this community. School is about learning. I know for some it may be "too strict" but only if you are looking for trouble. I think the education and environment is just what kids need to learn and feel safe.

I am a current student at HCMS and I have to say I hate this school. They constantly stuff the Character Counts program and the anti bullying program down our throats, there is a camera around every corner, and there are to many rules and guidelines. I definitely think the school is like prison, with no exaggeration. The lunch periods are way to short and the lunch room is extremely strict. We have to sit with the same people all year long? We cant at least change table seating charts every quarter? That's pathetic. And we have to ASK a "grownup" to go to the bathroom that's literally IN the lunchroom?? And once we ask to go to the bathroom we have to sign a paper saying that we went to the bathroom during that lunch period. The homework we get every night is a good amount. I dread having to go to school every morning. School leaves me very stressed and angry a lot of times. They treat us like we are in 3rd grade. The school doesn't even feel like a middle school. I am not able to experience things that others do during Junior High at different schools. I do not recommend this school.

I agree with many other reviews. To sum it up, almost every student you meet here will say they the coming to school. I am very academic and used to love coming to school, but now that has dwindled and I absolutely dread mornings. Between Character Counts, constant yelling from staff, cameras in almost every corner you look, (it's funny that they are very small and hidden in the ceiling...) and the fact that the whole enviroment just has a bad mood to it. Honestly, the current principal has his doctorate, and since then, this school has become a 6 hour, 5 day a week prison sentence. I won't deny that I believe that I'm getting a good education, but the enviroment in which my education is coming from is horrid.
