Longwood Elementary School

Neutral I’m writing this to delete a previously submitted review and cannot sign in

My son has been at this school since Kindergarten and is now going in to third grade and my daughter has completed PreK, going into Kindergarten. I have experienced their primary teachers, secondary teachers, administration, and support staff and with the exception of my son's 1st grade teacher (his entire 1st grade year actually - thankfully that teacher is now retired), I have been quite pleased with the time and attention my children have received. His Kindergarten and 2nd grade teachers were EXCEPTIONAL, truly motivated by recognizing the individuality of each student and working hard to make sure their needs are met, creating an atmosphere of teamwork, cooperation, and inclusiveness. I cannot speak highly enough of these 2 women! I don't quite understand why the school's rating is so low as the children all seem to be challenged (perhaps they could be just a bit more; maybe gifted classes instead of one period a day where advanced children can receive specific attention) but overall, I feel the teachers truly care, the support staff are fully focused on the children's well-being. The only reason I don't give the school a 'Great' rating is because I feel the administration could be stronger and there are behavior issues from some of the students that doesn't seem to be squashed as quickly as it should be. I've never heard of any fights or anything just an incident here or there. I would say this school deserves at the very least 7 based on how dedicated the staff is and my personal experience with the quality of work and social environment I feel my children have received and been part of. Both of my kids have excelled and (as I said, with the exception of one school year) I have felt they were in a safe environment full of staff that believe in boosting self-esteem, creating socially responsible students, for the most part, follow through when issues arise - though, again, I do think improvement can be made in this area. I'm a pretty proud Longwood Parent.

My daughter is in K and her teacher Ms. Robles is AMAZING! I have no complaints on the overall school and highly recommend the school. I'm most impressed with how they customize the work for children like my daughter so she/they stay challenged and growing!!!
